The track starts off with a chorus singing the catchy line "Tonight we are victorious" which is repeated several times throughout the song, and is sure to get stuck in your head after just one listening. Then the ever-so-lovely vocals of Brendon Urie sets in, with his signature sound of boisterous energy.
The lyrics are the promise of a good time; Many mentions of partying with your friend delivered in an easy-for-the -brain-to-digest way.
The songs mix of computer generate pop-beats and a rockier guitar riff with the catchy as hell chorus, makes it impossible to imagine that this will get anything other than a ton of radio time. All in all this songs makes you want to get up and dance and sing along at the top of your lungs, and I for one am very excited to hear what the future album of Panic! will sound like.
In an article with Gigwise.com* around the end of August, Urie talked about said album and the influences on it. He mentions Queen as one, and it is easy to hear already in this first sneak-peak, as the song bear reminiscence to the Queen song "Killer Queen". According to Urie, we might be lucky enough to hear the full album by the end of this year.
About the song, Brendon Urie himself says the following through a comment from the band's youtube on the video:
"I was never really great at sports. Never picked first for the team. Never had any game saving plays or tricks I could use to my advantage to then be hoisted upon my team mates' shoulders in praise of my winning awesomeness.
But what I missed in that regard, I made up for in passion and intensity. The guy who was known for turning up the crazy. The guy who said "fuck it I'll do it."
That's truly victorious. Giving it your all when it's all you have. Giving 'em hell to get a taste of heaven. So I say give 'em a taste of your poison. Turn up the crazy. Tonight, we are victorious."
Urie's closing line in the comment is "Until then, listen to it on repeat on here" and on repeat it has been and will continue to be for quite some time.
